Nicklinson wife to speak at conference

THE widow of the "locked in" sufferer Tony Nicklinson has promised to bring a human perspective to a conference on assisted suicide in Scotland.

Organised by MSP Margo MacDonald in support of her second attempt to change the law, the conference will also hear from the founder of Swiss organisation Dignitas and from a Kirk minister who backs legal reform. Jane Nicklinson has campaigned on the issue since her late husband's battle to die, but said her contribution on Friday would not involve the legal details. "Tony's case was never just about him but about anyone in his position," she said. "Any change has to be good news but I am not going to argue the legal side but the human side as someone who lived with someone who so desperately wanted to die."
