A former senior Barclays executive has called for bank bosses to give up lucrative bonuses as she denounced "obscene" levels of payment.
Ahead of the annual bonus season, Alison Carnwath said bankers should forgo the money in the current economic climate.
Her successor then faced fury from MPs as he defended the bank's £2.7 million bonus to its former chief executive.
