A Scottish Labour MP was treated in hospital after tripping on stairs and breaking her leg.

Fiona O'Donnell, who represents East Lothian, fell over at Paddington London Underground station while carrying a suitcase.

She was taken to St Thomas's Hospital, where x-rays revealed a fracture to her right leg. She has since been discharged.

Her son Lawrence was at her bedside as she waited for results of a knee scan.

Ms O'Donnell, 52, was using the stairs because an escalator was out of order as she returned from an official visit to Bangladesh.

Constituency staff member Joanna Cowan, said: "She will still be picking up emails and we will certainly be keeping her up to date with ongoing issues and new cases."
