The Liberal Democrats have overwhelmingly voted against controversial public sector regional pay plans.
Delegates at the party's annual conference condemned the proposals as a "race to the bottom".
The Coalition is considering freezing public sector wages in some areas amid warnings they are draining talent from the private sector. But critics say the plans would only serve to make poor areas poorer.
