Scotland leads a European league table for emissions reductions, the Scottish Government has said.

Environment and Climate Change Minister Paul Wheelhouse said, between 1990 and 2010, emissions in Scotland fell by 22.8%.

The European Environment Agency Greenhouse Gas Data Viewer shows this is the largest reduction among the EU-15 member states – and higher than the EU-27 member states 14.3% average.

Ahead of attending the UN Conference of the Parties in Doha to participate in climate talks with heads of state and ministers from nearly 200 countries, Mr Wheelhouse urged world leaders to commit to higher levels of ambition. He said: "Scotland has world-leading climate change legislation, and we are half way to meeting our target of a cut 42% in emissions by 2020."
