Scottish soldiers face the sack under Coalition plans to make thousands more Army personnel redundant, opposition parties warned.
The announcement also reignited concerns that thousands of troops will not be brought back from Germany to bases in Scotland.
The move comes just a day after David Cameron outlined plans to step up the UK's actions in North Africa following the killing of hostages in Algeria.
