SNP accused of gerrymandering

THE SNP has been accused of encouraging gerrymandering after it emerged two ministers attended a recent meeting where "dismantling Labour stronghold councils" was discussed.

The meeting, attended by Local Government Minister Derek Mackay and Infrastructure Minister Alex Neil, also discussed using the Government to "force change" on the make-up of Cosla, the Labour-dominated body representing Scotland's 32 councils.

The agenda, drawn up by Mr Neil's election agent, North Lanarkshire SNP councillor Michael Coyle, said both ministers were in attendance at the gathering in Airdrie a fortnight ago "to receive representations and answer questions from the branch network".
