THE SNP Government has been challenged over its denial it was involved in the appointment of Ed Lester as chief executive of the Student Loans Company and the pay deal which allowed him to dodge tax.
The Holyrood administration had claimed in an email to The Herald that ministers have no role in how the Glasgow-based company's staff are paid
It added that while tax is deducted at source for Scottish Government civil servants, the arrangements for non-core employees were a matter for those organisations.
