THE UK Government will this morning reveal the level of subsidy it intends to give for renewable energy sources with green cam-paigners hoping Ed Davey has won his internal battle with George Osborne to keep the reduction to 10%.

Earlier this week, Alex Salmond wrote to the Energy Secretary, saying the Scottish Government would set its subsidy to a 10% cut because the cost of onshore wind energy was coming down.

He urged the Lib-Con Coalition to do the same and warned that the uncertainty of its position was threatening investment jeopardising Holyrood's policy of having all of Scotland's energy produced from renewables by 2020.

It has been said the Chancellor was holding out for a 25% cut.
