Trust says savings hit £129m

THE body charged with getting a better deal for the taxpayer on public building projects claims it has made savings of £129 million.

The Scottish Futures Trust said this figure of “net future benefit to infrastructure investment” was a 16% increase on last year’s figure of £111m. It cited the example of the library, day care and community centre at Drumbrae in Edinburgh as the kind of project which would deliver £1 billion of new infrastructure across Scotland, protecting 7000 construction jobs.
