MOST voters believe the Tories are more divided today than they were under John Major in the 1990s.

A Comres telephone poll of 1000 adults also foundmost people think David Cameron lacks the leadership qualities to win the next General Election.

The snapshot showed support for Nigel Farage's UK Independence Party has climbed to a record high.

It also showed support for Labour has fallen to 34%, a four-point fall since last month and its lowest share of the vote under Ed Miliband's leadership. The Tories are on 30%, down two points, Ukip are on 17%, up four points. The Liberal Democrats trail on 10%.

Asked if the Tories under Mr Cameron were more divided than under Sir John, 56% agreed.
