THE Holyrood voting system should be changed to make it harder for any one party repeating the SNP's achievement in winning a majority and has been criticised for discouraging smaller parties, according to a study.

Professor John Curtice and Dr Martin Steven, of Strathclyde and Glasgow universities respectively, after detailed analysis of May’s poll, found the SNP won its majority with less than half the share of votes, in a supposedly proportional electoral system.
