Work plan helped just 10 Scots

Labour have called for urgent action after figures showed a flagship Coalition Government back-to-work scheme has helped just 10 Scots on incapacity benefit.

The Work Programme has already faced damning criticism from MPs.

At its launch, ministers said they were prepared to pay up to £14,000 per person to get hard-to-help cases back into long-term jobs.

However, new figures show that in Scotland, while 1520 former incapacity benefit claimants went through the scheme, only 10 completed six months in work.
