Edinburgh West MP Michelle Thomson could be back in the SNP within a month, it has emerged.
Earlier this week the SNP’s 54 MPs at Westminster put a motion to party’s ruling national executive to re-admit Ms Thomson.
She was suspended last year amid a police investigation into property deals, carried out by a solicitor struck off for misconduct.

The motion claims that Ms Thomson, who has not been charged, has been "denied natural justice" and that "her current situation has gone on for too long".
It adds: "The SNP Westminster Parliamentary Group requests that the National Executive Committee of the SNP urgently considers the position of Michelle Thomson MP with a view to accepting her back into party membership and therefore to the parliamentary whip.”
It states that during her suspension, Ms Thomson has been "a very loyal and extremely hard-working member of parliament, while lacking the professional support available to others".
The motion concludes that any MP charged with an offence should have the whip removed, but says "that is not the case with Michelle Thomson MP".

A source close to the National Executive Committee said that it was due to meet within weeks and would “consider closely” the motion.
The call is understood to have received unanimous backing at a meeting of the party's MPs on Tuesday night.
The investigation into possible mortgage fraud committed by solicitor Christopher Hales is still ongoing.
Police Scotland have said that the probe remains active, but have previously said that Ms Thomson was not personally its focus.
In August, Ms Thomson confirmed she had yet to be contacted by police.
Scottish Labour said it would be wrong for Ms Thomson to be reinstated.
Scottish Labour Lothian MSP Neil Findlay said: “At the heart of this case are vulnerable people who have lost out because of the alleged actions of people trying to make a quick buck.

“Preying on desperate people can never be an ethical business practice, yet SNP politicians can’t bring themselves to say Michelle Thomson’s actions were just wrong.
“There are still many questions to be answered about this case. But given what we do know, it would be wrong for Michelle Thomson to return as an SNP MP.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
