Nicola Sturgeon has said she would go head-to-head with Theresa May in a televised leaders' debate.

The First Minister said that she would be “up for” the idea.

The showdown was suggested to the SNP leader on the micro-blogging website Twitter.

Writer and campaigner Kirsty Strickland said: “A face to face debate would be much better. How about it, @NicolaSturgeon @theresa_may?”

Ms Sturgeon replied: “I’d be up for that”.
