JACOB Rees-Mogg is in trouble.

Beano Studios in Scotland have written to the pin-stripe suited Old Etonian Brexiteer to pick a bone and is now threatening to have its day in court.

After being notified of a “copyright infringement” by their eagle-eyed young fans, the producers of the Beano comic and Beano.com want the 48-year-old father-of-six to “cease and desist” from impersonating its well-loved snob Walter Brown; “if he wishes to avoid a day in the dock”.

The company says the similarities between the cartoon character and the MP for North East Somerset are striking; from the iconic hair-parting and austere dress sense to the distinctive round glasses and snootiness.

The upper-crust character made his first appearance in the Beano in 1953 as Dennis the Menace's neighbour.

Mike Stirling, Head of Beano Studios Scotland, said: "We were flattered when we discovered that Jacob Rees-Mogg has dedicated his life to impersonating one of my favourite Beano characters, young Walter.

“Nonetheless, as a hard-working British media company, we would prefer the public gets its Walter fix in the pages of our comics and on Beano.com rather than played out on the political stage. In other words: bog off Rees-Mogg!"

Inexplicably, the Tory MP has thus far failed to respond.
