A SCOTS doctor has hit back at claims that cross-border NHS treatment would become mired in red tape if Scotland became independent.

Dr Izhar Khan, a consultant physician and nephrologist at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, said Scots would continue to receive treatment at centres down south because the English NHS would welcome "lucrative contracts".
He spoke out after pro-UK campaigners claimed cross-border arrangements would be disrupted if Scotland became independent.
