Leaders of the pro-independence campaign have rallied volunteers at a Yes Scotland event, highlighting the "great opportunity to win the referendum".

The event at Stirling's Albert Halls saw Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, Yes Scotland chief executive Blair Jenkins and Dennis Canavan, chairman of the Yes Scotland Advisory Board, take to the stage.

Ms Sturgeon told the audience: "We have a great opportunity in Scotland for democratic advance - to vote Yes so that Scotland always gets the governments we vote for.

"But we also have an obligation equal to that opportunity to ensure that the great wealth of Scotland benefits all the people - instead of being tied to a Westminster system presiding over one of the most unequal countries in the developed world.

"We have a responsibility to vote for change - all political parties now agree that the status quo is past its sell-by-date - but only a Yes vote in September delivers the powers and the changes that Scotland needs."

The rally is the latest in a series of referendum events which are being staged by both the Yes and No sides as Scotland enters the final months of campaigning.

Mr Jenkins galvanised supporters with reference to recent poll results.

He said: "We know those who are undecided are more likely to move to Yes, so we have a great opportunity to win this referendum.

"I believe this campaign will be won in the course of a million conversations over the next three months. That's why it's so important that we all get the tone and the nature of our campaigning right. The Yes campaign is based on local communities, but it is also based on solid principles.

"People all over Scotland are joining the debate in their own way and in their own time. As they do, and as they find out the facts, they move more and more to Yes."
