THE Scottish Greens may run their own pro-Europe campaign for the in-out referendum.

The party will consider the issue at its conference in Glasgow next month, it has emerged.

A motion calls from the party’s International Committee calls for a “positively focused, distinct Scottish Green campaign that argues that Europe can be reformed to protect workers' rights, social justice and lead the fight against climate change".

Fearful of a split in its ranks, the Conservative party last week decided to remain neutral on the issue, meaning it would not commit money or manpower to the referendum, although the Prime Minister is still currently in favour of an In vote.

Likewise, Nicola Sturgeon last week said she would be a vocal In supporter, but refused to say if the SNP would be an official referendum campaigner.
