THE promoter of T in the Park reported pre-tax profits of more than £6 million just months before it was handed £150,000 in public cash by the Scottish Government.
Documents filed at Companies House also reveal that DF Concerts paid out dividends of £5 million to shareholders in 2014, accounts signed by the firm's chief executive Geoff Ellis in March and published yesterday reveal.
The Scottish Government were aware of the accounts before it signed off the payment, information released following Freedom of Information requests shows.
News of the bumper profits are likely to raise further questions over why it was necessary to hand over public cash to the festival, which asked for assistance due to costs associated with its move from Balado to Strathallan.
It comes as culture secretary Fiona Hyslop, who defended the payment last week, is set to find out whether she is to be hauled back before a Holyrood Committee to face further questions over the funding deal.
She has denied allegations that Jennifer Dempsie, a former special advisor to Alex Salmond and potential SNP parliamentary candidate who worked for DF Concerts, used to influence to help secure a meeting which led to the funding package being agreed.
