The hazards of politics eh?

If the risk of airborne eggs, irate voters and germs from brats at photo-ops weren't enough, now there are sword-wielding Polish royals to contend with.

Yanek Zylinski - whose father Andrzej Zylinski was a military officer and led a successful charge against the Nazis in 1939 - has challenged Nigel Farage to an an 18th century-style sword fight, saying he has "had enough" what he sees as the UKIP leader's demonisation of his compatriots.

"I'd like us to meet in Hyde Park one morning with our swords and resolve this matter in a way that an 18th Century Polish aristocrat and an English gentleman would traditionally do," Mr Zylinski said.

Well, it would certainly generate more excitement than TV debates.

They may have been left out of another televised debate but the DUP will not be off TV screens entirely on Thursday night.

First of all the party will appear alongside the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats in a special BBC Election Debate 2015: The Reaction programme, presented by Emily Maitlis, which might be better titled The Snubbers and The Not Invited.

Later, a special edition of BBC 2' Newsnight will come from Belfast where the other NI parties can presumably tell presenter Evan Davis why they should have been included in the earlier Maitlis programme.

Not to be outdone BBC One will still show Question Time on Thursday night.

David Dimbleby, fresh from hosting the Challengers debate will then head off to try to control Labour's shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper, SNP Westminster leader Angus Robertson, Liberal Democrat Business Minister Jo Swinson, UKIP's Douglas Carswell and the journalist and broadcaster Piers Morgan.

Interestingly the BBC press release also says that a senior Conservative will take part.

Surely the party is not struggling to find anyone to go head-to-head with Piers?
