THE final weekend of the election will see unprecedented levels of campaigning by both the SNP and Labour.

The SNP said 25,000 volunteers had agreed to help run 1000 street stalls yesterday and 600 today, and would give away one million items of SNP merchandise.

By the end of the holiday weekend, the party expects to have canvassed 1.5m voters, sent direct mail to 360,000 target voters, and delivered leaflets to 2.4m households.

The SNP also revealed celebrity backing from Gregory's Girl actor John Gordon Sinclair, broadcaster Hardeep Singh Kohli, and former boxing champ Alex Arthur MBE.

Scottish Labour said it was undertaking "the biggest mobilisation of people and materials" in its history, and planned to knock 300,000 doors over the weekend.

It also expected to send out 1.5m leaflets the day before polling, and launch a massive social advertising campaign on Facebook.

Labour said it had also targeted 'Glasgow Man', the 190,381 ex-Labour supporters who voted Yes in the referendum - a demographic it needs to win back on May 7.

However the party admitted that, while some had returned to Labour, "many still remain undecided" despite preferring a Labour government to a Tory one.
