A BILL calling for re-regulation of the bus industry in Scotland is being lodged at the Scottish Parliament after a consultation attracted more than 100 responses.

The Bill, spearheaded by East Lothian MSP and former Scottish Labour leader Iain Gray, would provide a new power to "bundle" profitable and non-profitable routes together and make bus companies bid to run the packages. At present, bus companies can set their own services and change them at short notice.

Mr Gray said change was essential to prevent operators simply cutting routes "if they're not commercially viable".
