ED Miliband has reshuffled some of his frontline team bringing in Blairite Scot Pat McFadden as the shadow minister for Europe.
The Wolverhampton South East MP takes over the role from Gareth Thomas in the party's Foreign Affairs team.
The Harrow West MP moves within the team to become shadow minister covering the Middle East and North Africa.
Ian Lucas, the MP for Wrexham, leaves the Foreign Affairs team to take over the international security strategy job at Shadow Defence.
Meantime, Yvonne Fovargue, who represents Makerfield in Wigan, moves from Defence to Education, replacing Rushanara Ali as shadow minister for Young People. Ms Ali, the MP for Bethnal Green and Bow in London, who is a Muslim, effectively resigned her post when she abstained in the Commons vote on military action in Iraq, which the Labour leadership supported.
Paisley-born Mr McFadden was Tony Blair's political secretary in No 10 before becoming an MP.
