ANNABEL Goldie, the former Scottish Conservative leader, is to be ennobled on Monday, November 11.

The Tory MSP for the West of Scotland, who led her party from 2005 to 2011, is among three Scots to become new members of the Lords in the latest tranche of working peers announced in August. Ms Goldie, 63, will be known as Baroness Goldie of Bishopton in the County of Renfrewshire.

Former Liberal Democrat MSP Jeremy Purvis will be introduced into the second chamber as Lord Purvis of Tweed on October 22, while Labour-supporting businessman and philanthropist Sir William Haughey, a former director of Celtic Football Club, whose new title was also announced in August, will be introduced a week later.
