A Scots LibDem MP has called on David Cameron to back his call for a crackdown on nuisance calls and texts.

Edinburgh MP Mike Crockart yesterday published a Private Member's Bill designed to strengthen the current regulations.

MPs will next month vote on the second reading of the Bill and it could fall unless it garners Coalition Government support.

Mr Crockart said: "I am looking forward to the second reading of my Bill on the 1st November, and I hope the Government will recognise that this Bill has the potential to remove this menace from people's lives for good. It is crucial that we clarify the current legislation on consent."
