MSPs have decided to take further evidence before deciding whether to support controversial plans to outlaw forced marriage.

Holyrood's justice committee will hear from campaign groups next year before finalising a report on proposals to adopt English laws creating a new offence of coercing someone into marriage against their will.

Committee convener Christine Grahame said concerns about the plans remained, adding: "We'll not be rushed."

Campaign groups fear criminalising forced marriage will discourage victims - who, typically, come under duress from family members - from coming forward.
