The Food Network channel pitched the Baking With Dave show after the Prime Minister said he preferred to make his own and did not know the price of a budget loaf.
Laughing off the tongue-in-cheek request, a No 10 spokesman said: "It sounds like a half-baked idea - the last thing Britain kneads."
Mr Cameron this week defended his ignorance of the price of budget supermarket bread by saying he prefers to bake his children healthy home-made granary loaves made with local flour.
Quizzed during the Conservative Party conference, he guessed a "value sliced white loaf" would cost "well north of a pound" when it is in fact just 47p.
"I don't buy the value sliced loaf - I've got a breadmaker at home which I delight in using," he said.
"I'm trying to get my children to eat granary and they like my home-made bread."
