Strathclyde Police worked with counter-terror officers from Scotland Yard, while legal authorities in Scotland decided the case could be heard in London.

Scott Pattison, Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service director of operations, said: "Officers from both forces have shown tremendous professionalism throughout and special tribute is due to those officers, in Glasgow and London, who attended at the scenes of crime on the day and took immediate action to safeguard lives."

He also praised the CPS which "prepared a professional and compelling prosecution" case.

Strathclyde Chief Constable Stephen House, who took up his post after the attack, said: "I was extremely impressed with the professionalism adopted by Strathclyde officers throughout the incident."

Scottish Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill said: "Today's conviction is the result of authorities across the UK acting together and sharing information. I warmly applaud that joint approach and that shared determination."

Attorney General Baroness Scotland, QC, said: "I would like to pay credit to the authorities in both England and Scotland, and commend how hard they have worked to pull this case together, and their efforts to help root out and combat terrorism."
