HOT SPOT - Milngavie

The Mismatch between Milngavie's written and pronounced names is one that unfailingly baffles visitors to the town, but then, even within the Records of the Parliament of Scotland there are apparently numerous different variants for what is commonly translated to mean 'Gavin's Mill'.

Interestingly, the restored building and water wheel of Gavin’s Mill is one of the few ancient buildings that remain in what has grown from a medieval village on the banks of the River Allander to one of the most exclusive residential commuter areas in the greater Glasgow area.
