Hot Spot – Townhouses

The west end of Glasgow has many housing hotspots but arguably the one that ranks as the city's most prestigious address is the hilltop area around Park Circus that was laid out by Glasgow architect Charles Wilson between 1857 and 1863, the year in which he died.

Bordered by Kelvingrove Park, Woodlands, Kelvingrove and the city centre, this area is where Glasgow's merchants and business elite built their mansions in the Victorian era. While the area's elevated setting is now valued for its views, doubtless the original residents saw it as a breath of fresh air above the squalor and smells of the city.
