Road and rail routes were packed as more than 50,000 fans came to see the first Scottish Cup final between the Edinburgh sides in 110 years.
Before the game, which ended in a painful 5-1 defeat for Hibs, the atmosphere was good-humoured, with Hibs supporters daring to dream they might lift the cup for the first time since 1902, while fans of Hearts, the favourites, were trying not to jinx their hopes with over-confidence.
