Fans of Superbad�s McLovin, aka Christopher Mintz-Plasse, will be pleased to see him back on supergeek form in this heavy-on-the-sarcasm comedy.

Fans of Superbad's McLovin, aka Christopher Mintz-Plasse, will be pleased to see him back on supergeek form in this heavy-on-the-sarcasm comedy. Mintz-Plasse plays Augie, one of a group of shy, troubled youngsters who have signed up with the Sturdy Wings charity looking for a mentor. Into his world crash slackers Danny and Wheeler (Paul Rudd, who played Phoebe's boyfriend Mike in Friends, and Seann William Scott), perpetrators of a minor crime who have been told by a court to volunteer at the charity or go to jail. Despite going near the knuckle with its humour, Role Models has a mushy core. Think School of Rock with edgier jokes.

While not every line hits the mark there are laughs to be had watching the clueless adults rival the youngsters for childish behaviour. Jane Lynch, the lynchpin of For Your Consideration and Best in Show, is at her deadpan best as the charity head and reformed bad girl.
