Jesus is Magic, a film of her stand-up show, is her calling card. As Silverman tackles subjects such as 9/11, rape, and racism, there's clearly a sharp, subversive mind behind her ditzy persona. When you are dealing with topics like this, though, better make sure the material is up to the mark. Often with Silverman it's nearly there but not quite. She's also shows herself to be a tragic victim of Victoria Wood disease, sufferers of which have a tendency to lapse into "comedy" songs that are as funny as a nosebleed.
