Police hunting for a young man who vanished without a trace while on a night out clubbing with friends have extended their search to the north east of England.
Iain Nicolson, 21, has not been seen or heard from since leaving a nightclub in Glasgow city centre a week ago.
His father Donald, 50, and sister Fiona, 20, joined police officers last night in handing out fliers to clubbers on Gordon Street in Glasgow where Mr Nicholson was last spotted in the early hours of Friday last week.
Mr Nicolson, who is from Bearsden, has two jobs as he is saving up to travel around Australia on a working visa for a year with his sister.
He works at the Marks & Spencer Simply Food store in Milngavie, East Dunbartonshire, and as a delivery driver for the Ashoka Indian restaurant at Bearsden Cross.
He finished his delivery shift at the Ashoka at 8pm last Thursday and returned home briefly before travelling to Glasgow city centre in a taxi with his sister and some friends.
Mr Nicolson, who is 6ft 3in and 15 stone, was last seen by friends around 1.05am on Friday morning outside Karbon Nightclub in Buchanan Street. He then walked into Gordon Street alone where he was captured on CCTV.
When Mr Nicolson's sister left the nightclub at 3am she called his mobile phone, but it was diverted straight to his answering service. The phone has not been switched on since.
Donald Nicolson said: "The family have to remain positive, and so at this stage no news is good news.
"The whole situation is bizarre, this is so unlike Iain.
"We are a close family and I know if there was anything troubling Iain he wouldn't keep it to himself; he is very close to his mother and he would have at least spoken to her."
All his identification, including his driving licence, bank and credit cards, and passport have been left in the family home in Culvain Avenue, Bearsden, where he lived with his father, mother Linda and sisters Fiona and Jennifer, 24.
One line of inquiry being followed by police is that he may have travelled to the north-east of England, however it is still a mystery how he would have managed without any means and also why he has not contacted his family.
Mr Nicolson went to Newcastle for the weekend with friends about 18 months ago and since he disappeared police have discovered he told some people he was going to the city last weekend.
He told both his employers that he was going to Newcastle with friends but none of his friends knew anything about the trip.
A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police confirmed last night that detectives have been in touch with Northumbria Police concerning Mr Nicolson disappearance, but there have been no sightings of him in Newcastle.
His father said: "We are going over every possible scenario in our heads. We can't think of anything else.
"His mother is not taking this well, she needs to hear from him."
When he was last seen Mr Nicolson was wearing a silver dog-tag necklace, white shirt with light brown stripes, white T-shirt, jeans and brown loafers.
He was also wearing an SOS bracelet indicating his allergy to penicillin in the event that he required medical treatment.
Anyone who has seen Mr Nicolson or knows his whereabouts is urged to contact Kirkintilloch police station.
Meanwhile, police are appealing to swimmers in Edinburgh's Commonwealth pool in the search for a woman that has been missing for almost a week.
Susannah Ellis, 28, went missing last Sunday.
Police are now appealing to swimmers who used the Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh for information after they discovered she had used the cash machine at the leisure complex on the day she went missing.
