Noel Makombo pitched up at Alloa and scored an astonishing six goals in his debut game for the under-19s.

Now the 16-year-old, 6ft 2in French striker has attracted the attention of several big English clubs, including Arsenal.

Makombo is poised to become the youngest player to pull on an Alloa first-team jersey tomorrow in a second division match against Stranraer at Recreation Park and Paul Hartley says he has high hopes for the product of the Sochaux youth academy.

"Noel is a very exciting talent," said the manager. "Some big English clubs are watching him and it does not surprise me because he has bags of potential.

"Noel has been with us for about six weeks now and is doing really well. He has been on fire, scoring in every game he has played, including six in one game. That's a bit special at any level."
