Banchory's Chris Robb, winner of a second event on the United States college circuit over the weekend, has a career as a tour professional in his sights.

"If things stay on track, I will turn pro after my final year at college [University of Chattanooga-Tennessee]. I am currently in my third year of a four-year course, so I have 18 months to improve my game to the standard you need to be to consider turning pro."

Robb won the North-East District open amateur title at Newmachar during his summer holidays from university and is a former Scottish schoolboys' champion.

"I'd say college golf has helped my game a lot, especially in the last year or so. Seeing how hard the other guys practise was an eye-opener for me when I first came over to America and so I made sure I did the same."

Robb's second college win came in the Bridgestone Collegiate event at Greensboro, North Carolinia. Over a par-72 course of 7245 yards, he had scores of 72, 66 and 69 for a nine-under-par total of 207 and won by one shot from Mississippi State's Axel Boasson.

The field also included his team-mate Steve Fox, who won the US amateur championship on the same weekend as Robb won the NE District Open. Fox was 10th, 12 shots behind Robb. Six players ranked in the top 100 college golfers and two from the top 20 were in the field. Liam Johnston from Dumfries, also on the Chattanooga team, tied for 39th on 225 with scores of 73, 79 and 73.
