The Scot Lawrence Tynes is on course to break the NFL scoring record.
The New York Giants' kicker currently leads the league with 109 points in his 10 matches so far. If he can maintain his current rate in the remaining games – starting with Green Bay Packers this weekend – Tynes would finish with 174 points, eclipsing the record of 166 points set just last season by the San Francisco 49ers' kicker David Akers.
He has already scored more points after 10 games than any kicker in the NFL since Denver's Jim Turner in 1968.
Tynes, the 34-year-old from Greenock who has won two Super Bowl championships, is also on target to beat the Giants' team record of 148 points for a season set by Jay Feely in 2005. If he were to finish on top of the NFL charts, he would become the first Giants player to achieve the feat since Don Chandler back in 1963.
