Scotland's Dan Purvis has been invited to fill the shoes of Japanese Olympic all-around champion Kohei Ochimura at next month's World Cup in Stuttgart, Germany.

Despite the absence of Ochimura, who withdrew earlier in the month, Purvis will be keeping the best of company, with the Olympic silver medallist Marcel Nguyen (Germany) and bronze medallist Danell Leyva (USA).

The Stuttgart World Cup, to be held on December 1-2, is the first on the circuit; Glasgow hosts the second leg on December 8, an event which is sold out; Worcester, USA, stages the third leg on March 2; and the grand finals are in Tokyo on April 6-7.

Purvis showed his form by winning a silver medal at the prestigious Joaquim Blume Memorial Cup in Barcelona at the weekend, beaten only by the European silver medallist Oleg Verniaiev, of Ukraine. Verniaiev amassed a total of 90.000 points with Purvis on 88.734 points.
