They won through to the defining stages of the men's pairs and triples and the women's fours in top spot in their respective sections.
Paul Foster and Alex Marshall looked as though they would miss out. After nine wins and one draw, hey trailed Fiji in their concluding match but skip Marshall played wonder bowls with his last delivery over the final two ends to earn a 14-14 draw and a semi-final berth this afternoon where they meet the winner of the match between England and Wales. Canada won the opposite group and will meet either Ireland or Australia.
A 23-9 finish against England gave David Peacock, Darren Burnett and Graeme Archer their pole position finish and they now line up against Japan or Ireland on Thursday for a place in Saturday's final with China and Australia battling it out for a semi-final berth against New Zealand.
After an opening draw against New Zealand, Margaret Letham skipped Michelle Cooper, Lyn Stein and Caroline Brown to 10 straight victories, the last of which came against the host nation Australia which they eased through 20-5 to top their group with 21 points.
Their semi-final opponents tomorrow afternoon will be England or South Africa while Wales topped the opposite section and wait for the winner between Malaysia and Philippines. Their final will be on Friday morning.
Defeats of 21-19 in rounds 9 and 10 cost Claire Johnston a berth in the singles knock-out stages and she finished seventh in her group which was won by England's Commonwealth Games gold medallist Natalie Melmore.
Their cross section draw sees Melmore taking on the winner of the match between Aussie Karen Murphy and Springbok Tracy-Lee Botha with defending champion Val Smith from New Zealand meeting Ireland's Cliondha Eadie or Canada's Kelly McKerihen for a place in the title decider on Sunday.
