As Edinburgh's hunt for a playmaker who can help them find a way to turn their fortunes around, the head coach of Glasgow Warriors wants them to look outside of Scotland for a solution.

With Peter Horne having put in a high-class display on his first start in the position last week, four of the five leading contenders to be scrum-half Greig Laidlaw's international half-back partner are all at Glasgow.

Those include both the stand-offs who played in the win over Ireland, Ruaridh Jackson and Dunc Weir, as well as Scott Wight, but even though only one of them can start at any one time, Gregor Townsend believes all four should stay at Scotstoun.

"They all want to play, but when you look at the top teams around Europe that's what you have," he noted. "You've got the situation at Leinster where if [Jonny] Sexton's not playing then [Ian] Madigan's playing, so you've got another internationalist for these positions."
