Welsh Rugby Union officials and representatives of the four regional teams will put politics aside and broker a resolution to their feud, believes Dai Young, the former Cardiff Blues coach.

Young, now coach of Wasps in the Aviva Premiership, is confident the Welsh Rugby Union and Regional Rugby Wales will "do the right thing" to preserve their domestic set-up.

The Ospreys, Scarlets, Newport Gwent Dragons and Cardiff Blues are refusing to sign a new participation agreement with the WRU, with a breakaway to a new Anglo-Welsh league widely mooted. The WRU's continued endorsement of the Heineken Cup is at loggerheads with the regions' aim to join the English-led rival European competition, the Rugby Champions Cup.

"From a proud Welshman's point of view I just hope things get resolved in Wales," he said. "Am I worried about it? No I'm not; there are enough quality people in Wales to pull together to get it right."
