TOM HATELEY, the former Motherwell defender, has gone on trial with Slask Wroclaw in Poland.

The 24-year-old spent four years at Fir Park after being brought in by then manager Jim Gannon. Hateley scored 12 goals in 177 appearances, before leaving last June.

He joined Tranmere Rovers on a short-term deal, but has now left the League One outfit after featuring in just eight matches.

If he impresses for the Polish side, who won the Ekstraklasa, the country's top flight two seasons ago, he could come up against former Dundee United defender Barry Douglas who joined Lech Poznan last summer.
