Malky Mackay expects Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to experience

a "culture shock" after being made manager of Cardiff City but is still hopeful that the Norwegian will prove to be a success. Mackay was sacked by the Welsh club controversially last month, with Solskjaer taking charge for the first time on Saturday.

That ended in a 2-0 home defeat by West Ham United, with Cardiff falling into the relegation places in the Barclays Premier League table. Mackay stated that the club are still in a position to stay up this season and noted the pedigree of his successor as another reason to be positive.

"He's a decent appointment because he's done well," said the Scot. "He's been in the Premier League [as a player with Manchester United] and he's done well in Norway. I think it's a great job for him, coming from Norwegian football into the Premier League, [but] it's going to be different and there's a culture shock to it as well."
