Jason Puncheon, the Crystal Palace midfielder, could incur disciplinary action from the Football Association as well as legal action by Neil Warnock following a series of tweets in reaction to criticism of his penalty miss during a defeat by Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

The 27-year-old was criticised by many commentators, but took particular exception to comments that Warnock - who signed him on loan at Queens Park Rangers in 2011 - made on the radio. Puncheon had responded by making allegations on Twitter suggesting Warnock had benfited financially from contracts he offered to players.

The former QPR manager is now considering whether to take the matter further, while the FA are now "looking into" the comments.
