John Fleming, the Scottish Football Association's head of referee operations, has indicated that match officials will continue to be restricted from speaking to the media after matches to explain controversial decisions.

Fleming is concerned that reversing that mandate would put officials under undue pressure as well as undermining the work of Vincent Lunny, the SFA compliance officer.

"A number of matters may be referred to [Lunny] for review and a referee commenting could prejudice any case," said Fleming. "We are very restricted in what we can voice and it would bring more problems than benefits to the referees."
