Perhaps the only surprise in Arsenal's resounding victory over Steven Pressley's Coventry City last night was that Arsene Wenger had fielded such a strong side for this FA Cup fourth round match.

The Sky Bet League One side were never given a glimpse of an upset as a first-half double from Lukas Podolski put Arsenal firmly in control, with Olivier Giroud adding a third late on after coming off the bench and fellow substitute Santi Cazorla scoring his third goal in two games on 89 minutes.

Wenger handed a senior debut to 16-year-old midfield prospect Gedion Zelalem - who was not even born when he first took charge at Highbury - and will now regroup his squad for their tricky Barclays Premier League trip to Southampton on Tuesday, having cruised into the fifth round without really getting out of second gear. "They are a wonderful, wonderful team," admitted Pressley. "If you don't get close to them, they hurt you. But we should take confidence from that performance."
