Sean Maitland will miss Saturday's Calcutta Cup clash with England at Murrayfield.

Maitland, the 25-year-old Glasgow Warriors winger, departed injured during the first-half of yesterday's RBS 6 Nations match against Ireland.

Today, Scottish Rugby's Head of Performance Medical, Paul McGinley, said: "Sean suffered a concussion as well as injury to his right leg yesterday. He will be subject to further investigation today at Spire Murrayfield hospital and will be assessed later by consultant surgeon Graham Lawson.

"We also have a number of injuries at this juncture which will impact on availability to train at the start of this week but we are optimistic that players will recover in time for the England game."

The Scotland squad will continue medical assessments and treatments today and will undertake a debrief on the Ireland game tonight.
