CSABA LASZLO, the former Hearts manager, has applied for the vacant position at Oxford United.

The Sky Bet League 2 club are looking to fill the post after Chris Wilder left to take over at Northampton Town and Lazslo has put forward his candidacy to take over at the Kassam Stadium.

The Hungarian has also been linked with filling the empty dugouts at Stenhousemuir and Shrewsbury Town, after resigning last year as national coach of Lithuania.

He is believed to be up against the former Rangers forward James Beattie - now Accrington Stanley manager - former Doncaster Rovers manager Dave Penney and Robbie Fowler, the former Liverpool striker.
