JOSH FALKINGHAM, the young Dunfermline midfielder, has agreed a new two-year deal to stay at East End Park until the summer of 2016.

The former Leeds United trainee's contract was due to expire at the end of the season and he had initially told manager Jim Jefferies he was not ready to re-sign, a move that saw him lose the captaincy of the club.

However, following further discussions with the player and his agent earlier this week, the 23-year-old has now committed his medium-term future to the club.

Jefferies said: "As time goes on you want to sort it out one way or another and I'm delighted to get Josh tied up for another two years.

"The boys we've brought in recently, Ganny Grainger, Jonathan Page and Ross Forbes, prove to folk that we are determined to get ourselves to a higher level."
